About Carol R. Martin, MD
Dr. Carol Martin completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame in 1997. After college graduation, she enrolled in the Vincentian Service Corps and completed a year working with low-income seniors in inner city Washington, DC with a non-profit organization called Emmaus Services for the Aging. Following this experience, she decided to pursue her vocation caring for seniors, and applied to medical school.
Dr. Martin graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2003, where she was a founding member of a student chapter of the American Geriatrics Society. She then completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine at Saint Louis University. After her fellowship, Dr. Martin worked in a PACE program (Program for All Inclusive Care for the Elderly) in inner city St. Louis, caring for frail nursing home eligible seniors. Following this, she began working in private practice general Internal Medicine. Her practice in St. Louis was also heavily focused on Geriatric Medicine, with many patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans. In the summer of 2018, Dr. Martin and her family relocated to Great Falls, Virginia. After moving to Great Falls, Dr. Martin worked on the hospitalist and Geriatric Medicine Consult services at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, while researching other outpatient opportunities.
Ultimately, in the fall of 2020, Dr. Martin decided to develop her own medical practice specifically designed for seniors, with the goal of helping seniors to remain living independently at home. She formed Great Falls Geriatric Medicine, LLC and began enrolling patients in the Aging Well Program in August 2021.
Dr. Martin is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, in both Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, American College of Physicians, Catholic Medical Association and American Academy of Home Care Medicine.
